Seismic assessment of the medieval Armenian church in Famagusta, Cyprus

Andrés Burgos Braga; Paulo B. Lourénço, and Nuno Mendes · 2019

Catalogue summary

Nondestructive survey and a three-dimensional finite-element model test the medieval Armenian church at Famagusta under gravity and bidirectional earthquake loading. Pushover and time-history results indicate adequate structural safety and attribute observed damage patterns to seismic action.

Why this matters

The analysis supplies a technical baseline for conserving an Armenian ecclesiastical monument in Cyprus, where heritage decisions must account for earthquake vulnerability.
