Argues that the Sanasarian School of Erzurum was an active participant in transimperial networks rather than a passive object of imperial policy. Russian consuls watched it with suspicion for fostering nationalist sentiment and ARF influence, and their reports form the evidentiary core of the study. The school emerges as a node where Ottoman, Russian and Armenian interests intersected on the eve of the First World War.
