Armenian Organization and Ideology Under Ottoman Rule: 1908–1914

Kaligian, Dikran Mesrob · 2009

A documentary study of the ARF during the Ottoman constitutional period, built on the party's own internal records read against British, American and German diplomatic archives. Kaligian reconstructs how the ARF organized, governed itself, and operated as a legal parliamentary party after 1908. The book's central target is the historiographical dispute over ARF relations with the Committee of Union and Progress, which he sets out to resolve by reducing the overemphasis on external accounts. It gives a comprehensive picture of Armeno-Turkish relations across the brief window of constitutional rule.
