Vocabulary growth in Armenian–English bilingual kindergarteners

Alice Hovsepian · 2017

Catalogue summary

Repeated testing of 42 Armenian-English kindergarteners showed gains in both languages, but weaker growth in Armenian expressive vocabulary and a preference for English use.

Why this matters

Language-exposure measures uniquely predicted vocabulary in the corresponding language, offering direct evidence about maintenance of Armenian among young bilinguals.
