Armenian Parabiblica and their Mediaeval Development and Function
Stone, Michael E. · 2025
Stone proposes a research methodology for Armenian parabiblical literature. The vast body of texts that grew up around, but outside, the biblical canon. He begins with a call for terminological clarity, noting that 'apocrypha' and 'pseudepigrapha' have both been used loosely and that 'Armenian parabiblical literature' needs proper definition. He then turns to how these texts actually functioned socially, and the part they played in shaping Armenian Christian culture, closing by setting out the research procedure he proposes.
