Students of Armenian background at UM-Dearborn, including transfer students who have completed 12 credits at UM-Dearborn or another college. Recipients must enroll full-time (12+ credit hours in fall and winter), hold a 3.0+ GPA, demonstrate financial need, and submit two recommendation letters plus a current FAFSA. ANCA Rising Leaders Program

Armenian National Committee of America, with the AYF Eastern and Western US

Armenian American university students and recent graduates aged 18 and over; Washington, DC-area Armenian American high school seniors may also take part. The top 25 applicants per session are selected on academic excellence and demonstrated community youth leadership, and submit a 600-word essay, one recommendation from an educator or community organizer, and a description of volunteer experience. Students cover their own travel to Washington.

Arisdine Krikorian Scholarship

Krikorian Family Foundation (administered by The Philanthropic Initiative)

High school, undergraduate, or graduate students who are either of Armenian descent or pursuing Armenian Studies at the college level. Must be a US citizen or FAFSA-eligible non-citizen and a permanent resident of Massachusetts, enrolling full-time at an accredited US non-profit four-year college or in a graduate program, with a 3.0+ GPA. AVC Volunteer Corps (Junior, Student, Professional and Senior Corps)

Armenian Volunteer Corps (Yerevan)

Volunteers and interns aged 21 and over from any background worldwide, serving in Armenia for one month to one year in a placement of their choosing across business, education, environmental science, arts and culture, finance, health, and the government or NGO sectors. AVC arranges airport pickup, host-family housing, Armenian language classes, and matching from more than 600 placement partners. Applicants aged 21–32 who are at least 25% Armenian are directed to Birthright Armenia instead, unless they were born in Armenia and left after age 12.

No participation fee for terms of one month or longer; volunteers cover their own travel and roughly 6,000 AMD/month health insurance

Eastern Prelacy University Scholarship

Eastern Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church (New York)

Armenians resident in Lebanon or Syria, no more than 25 years old at application, with strong exam or school results, enrolled or accepted at a recognized university in their country of residence. Two recommendation letters and a declaration of family income sources are required. Up to 10 new scholarships are awarded each year, with priority to undergraduate degrees.

Israelyan Translation Grants (three grants)

International Armenian Literary Alliance

Three grants for literary translators with a work-in-progress: Eastern Armenian into English (post-1915 works), Western Armenian into English (any period), and English into Eastern Armenian (contemporary Armenian-authored works from an IALA-selected list). Judged by panels of Armenian literary translators and scholars.

Melikian Center Awards Program (Critical Languages Institute — Armenian)

Funds intensive Armenian language study at ASU's Critical Languages Institute. Open to students and non-students of all ages, with no Armenian descent requirement: up to $2,000 for online-only study, up to $6,000 for online study plus a 4-week extension in Armenia, and up to $10,000 for 8 weeks abroad.

How do I find Armenian scholarships?
The simplest way is to use one verified directory instead of searching each organization separately. The ARF Shant Student Association gathers Armenian scholarships, fellowships, and grants into a single directory, drawn from dozens of sources: AGBU, the Armenian Relief Society, university-specific programs, and more. Filter by level, search by name or field, and apply directly. You can also submit any scholarship we're missing.
Do I need to be Armenian to apply?
It depends on the scholarship. Many Armenian scholarships require Armenian heritage or descent, but eligibility varies by program. Some are open to students studying Armenian topics, attending particular schools, or meeting financial-need and GPA criteria regardless of background. Always check the eligibility details on each scholarship's page and on the organization's official application before applying.
